Most bloggers and may other webmasters have a page on their site that offers opportunities for people to advertise on their site. Many of these pages offer stats as to the number of visitors a site receives and/or the rankings of the site on different ranking systems.
Well, I have an advertising page and my rankings are displayed in my sidebar on every page. So I’ve done things right so far.
The thing that most people immediately want to know when deciding whether or not to purchase some advertising space is how much it is going to cost. This can be tricky because you have to determine the amount that an ad on your site is worth based on the amount of traffic you get (so you don’t undercharge) and how much people would be willing to pay (so you don’t overcharge and get no sales).
Now, this is the way that people generally look at setting up advertising on their site and I followed this same method. By no means did I expect to make loads of cash the first week, but the results I have gotten are quite discouraging and have made me look at advertising from a different approach.
I am now asking myself (and my readers – leave a comment below) the following question: Why would (or wouldn’t) you want to advertise at this site?
In this case, I am referring to romandock dot com but this could be used in regards to any site you visit when you are looking for advertising opportunities. At this point I’m not even sure what my answer is about my own site, but I would like to know what my readers think.
I am asking this question because I am thinking there must be a reason why people don’t want to advertise here. I have had the “auction” for 125×125 ads available for just over a week now and have not even gotten any 0.00 bids. If I can’t even give the ad space away there must be a reason. I’m calling on you, my loyal readers, to help me figure out what that reason is.
