As a ham radio operator, I am always excited when someone expresses interest in the hobby and looking for opportunities to encourage someone to become interested. I am not alone, almost any amateur radio enthusiast will be more than happy to help someone get involved in the hobby.

The issue that seems to come up time and time again, however, is not that there is not information and/or resources available for people to get involved or people to help them get involved, but that most people seem resistant to the idea.

For this post, I would like to hear from any people who are not involved in the hobby of amateur radio and tell me why you are not. Some ideas that I have thought of that are possibilities are that you do not know what it is, don’t know anything about it, don’t know where to start, or are just not interested.

If you don’t know what it is or have questions about it, feel free to ask and maybe I or someone else can help to answer any questions you may have. If you are just simply not interested, that is fine but please elaborate a little bit and help myself and other ham radio operators to understand why you are not interested and what could be different about it that might interest you.
