It’s no secret that one can save money by buying the parts and building a computer rather than buying one. In many cases this is a very wise thing for a person to do. The same amount of money that would have been spent to buy a new computer can be used to build one of higher quality and with more memory, etc. Likewise, a computer of matching specifications can be built for considerably less than buying new.
There are, however, situations when building a computer might not be such a great idea. In many cases, new computers have become so low priced that if you need new peripherals as well (monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, printer), money may be saved buy purchasing a complete set-up from Dell, HP, or one of the other companies that offers such a packages.
Another situation when it might not be such a good idea to build your new computer instead of buying one is if you need a new copy of the Windows operating system. The vast majority new computers come pre-installed with Windows but if you want to buy a copy to install on a computer that you put together yourself, it can nearly double the cost of the computer.
