Well, so far I haven’t much in the way of response to my Submit A Post efforts, so for this week I have two articles that I marked down to remind myself of and then I’m going to make it all about me!
To start things off, I made a note to remind myself to go back and re-read this post about beating procrastination because, while I don’t think I’m as bad as I once was, I do see myself needing to follow some of these tips to become a bit more efficient and get more done with the time I have available. It’s funny how sometimes we can spend more time and effort avoiding something than the task actually requires to complete.
The other post I made a note of to mention here was one that basically says to the reader: Brand your face. It is an interesting post, and makes some good points. However, as can be seen from my comment on that post, I’m not so sure that branding your face is necessarily a great idea. Perhaps it would be better to simply associate your face with your website rather than brand it that way…
Ok, there’s the two posts that I pulled aside this week and marked especially for the writing of this post. Now, for the rest of my recap of the week, I am going to make it all about me
No, I’m not going to just make it about my own posts and link to them. Although, deep-linking is always a good idea and I did announce a feature, talk about solar power and cell phones, and share a funny video so there, the links have been included.
Now, what I really had in mind was sharing the links to some posts that made reference to and/or linked to me that have been posted over the past week.
I’ll start with the one that wasn’t specifically about me but just as well could have been. You see those place holder ads over on the sidebar? Well, they are there to try and get you to check out advertising opportunities here. According to a certain comment king, I should perhaps consider removing them because I guess they are bad or something.
Moving on, Derek was really fond of me this week. Maybe he’s trying to make up for not commenting here for over two months. Over at his site, I left the most comments in December, couldn’t think of a question, and tried to get his magic “more comments” formula (I still think he’s holding something back).
I couldn’t think of anything to ask Derek, but when Damien needed questions to plan an interview of himself, he tagged me in his call to help and I was able to come through with something. I haven’t seen the interview yet, but am anxious to see how it went once it’s posted online.
It must have been a good week to release new features because Andrea has one too! It’s not integrated into the sidebar like most of us have, but perhaps that is a shortfall of the site being “Made on a Mac” (as the the footer reads) but it’s still nice of her to share the love
…now if only her comments section was more like the rest of ours
Last but not least, I just found out that Enkay has managed to earn another link in this post because he tagged me to participate in this “10 Things You Can’t Live Without” meme that he is starting. I haven’t even read his post yet, but I will get to that and you will probably see my participation in this meme sometime over the next week.
I hope I’m not being too conceited by choosing my posts this way, but if nothing else I figured it would be a nice way to give back to those who gave to me this week and that you might find some of these posts worth reading and perhaps you’ll discover a new site or two. Don’t forget to subscribe to my feed and submit some posts for next week.

Great post… I have problems with procrastination too… I read the link.
Ya know, I COULD have put it on the side bar like you and derek have but I chose not to cause that what yall have. I wanted to be different. I am going to go back and edit it and do something to the blogroll page. you will see soon enough what I am talking about.
so NYAH, take that.
I’m still flattered to be included. If you only did that just to be different, well, that’s your choice I guess…it certainly is a different method
You must have not changed the blogroll page yet though because so far it looks the same to me (or else I’m just not very observant)
i havent changed it yet. what I plan to do is provide a lil description of each blog.
That sounds pretty cool…you could use AJAX to make drop-down boxes kinda like Derek has his Red Staple Media site.
First I’ll LOL @ Andrea - you tell ‘em girl!
Now, Nick ‘ol chap…first, thanks for the linkage! Second, what you have on the side is OK. Perfectly fine and recommended until *real* advertisers come knockin’ (they all look affiliate, correct?).
What I refer to in my post is the really pathetic looking (no offense y’all) totally BLANK blocks that are just BEGGING for advertisers with the dreaded yet infamous “ADVERTISE HERE” splashed across it.
You’re doing well my friend.
Well, thanks for the compliment and encouragement and your link was well deserved. I’m glad to know that my banners all look affiliate. I do have some in the rotation that I feel are like the ones you are talking about, however, I made them to look different so they aren’t all the same. There are about 4 of them in rotation for those top four spots that when clicked just take you to my advertise page and are basically my “custom” “Advertise Here” banners
Maybe I shouldn’t have told you that though if you didn’t already have it figured out
LOL I was wondering about those. I’ve never used performance ads so I didn’t know what to think.
Honestly though, I like the custom ones…although maybe not multiple ones. I like them for two reasons; they are not staring blankly at you begging to be filled, and they are actually linked to your advertising page.
I did say in the comments of my post, that I thought that was an acceptable idea if one really wanted blank ones.
With PerformancingAds, they put 1 Advertise Here one linked to a page where someone could purchase through them and then any affiliate offers or other ads that you set as “backups”. I use them for the bottom 4 spots and the top 4 are currently my self-hosted ones that can be purchased through my advertise page which is why I have them set up like I do.
I’m still having a hard time believing it has been two months since I have left a comment. It is something that I know that I need to do better though, but I was sure that I have commented more recent than that - are you sure your site is eating my comments.
I think I need to jump over and check out that post on procrastination. Thanks for the mention and for sharing more interesting links to explore.
I had a hard time believing it too…but I checked both in my WP Dashboard and also directly queried the database through PHPMyAdmin and that’s all I found.
Glad you find some of those links worth reading.
