Well by this time, you're probably getting some decent search engine traffic. Why not post up a bunch of adsense on the old posts that are getting the most search traffic.

I realize this in no way really addresses what you've written, but it's a thought.

In your case, couldn't you move the content over, remove it from the old site, and implement a redirect for any traffic from there to go to the new site?

Yeah Google will penalize you for duplicate content thats why I'm waiting for my hosting on my other domain to expire by itself rather than leaving that site on there. I think we would like to see you pursue other projects as well but keep RomanDock alive!

@Martin - That is a very good point on RSS subscriptions, I've never really thought of it that way, but I can see how people wouldn't want to subscribe to a site that doesn't always have information that they are interested in.

@Jason - It was a compliment (as well as some link love :P) so just relax! Oh, and keeping in mind my response to Martin, you need to not get too focused on Japanese politics :P

@DCR - I think duplicating the content would certainly be a bad idea, but I'm not sure whether they should be moved (risking broken links throughout the interweb) or left here. If I move them I could remove the categories completely which would help clean up the site a bit.

I wouldn't duplicate content across sites, regardless of any potential Google penalties. Maybe you could add a link to the relevant posts, directing visitors to the new site for more information?

<i>It would basically be my own version of J2FI"</i>

I'm not sure if that was a dis, or a compliment :P

I agree with Martin that you shouldn't use word-for-word copies of your posts. At the same time, you should be careful not to use the exact same meta tags if you're going to post on the topic. Google pays attention to host IPs as well as meta tags when determining if something is a duplicate.

Aside from that, you should be good to go for your projects. Good luck with them, and let me know so we can do some link exchanges :P

Focusing your site to a specific audience can certainly help attract regular visitors, as they're more inclined to subscribe to the rss feed if they think they'll be regular content appealing to their specific interest.
Having a single blog that has posts covering a wide variety of topics can put people off, as the signal-to-noise ratio can be too low.
Be wary of having the same content on multiple websites, as google can penalise you for it. You're probably better off moving appropriate content to the new site(s), and implement some redirects on this site, to redirect any visitors looking for those old posts straight to your new site.
