I know that for myself, this post has been much awaited for and anticipated. I have mentioned it enough times that I do not doubt that several of you may have been waiting for it as well. Yes, I finally have my radios installed in my Blazer.

At this time I do not have pictures of the installation, but I am hoping to get some taken here before too long. While I am not going to use this post to go into great detail about the install process or anything like that, for those that are wondering, a list of the main components is below:

Kenwood TM-D710A
Yaesu FT-857D
Little Tarheel II
Turbo Tuner
2 Larsen Dual Band Antennas
Diamond K400-3/8 antenna mount

I’m still awaiting the arrival of my AvMap GPS, but in the meantime have been using my Garmin V for APRS.

The installation took significantly more time than expected every step of the way. Other than that frustration, I seem to have some antenna issues with the 857 that I need to work out. The 710 on the other hand is working great. There are a few things that are quite different from the TM-D700, but for the most part I have been able to figure out the 710 based on my knowledge of the 700.

I’m just excited that I finally have them installed. Now I just need to figure out the antenna issues with the 857. If you have any questions about either of these radios or other comments, leave a comment below.
