Anybody can put up a website, but having a website with good design takes some work. The first thing people notice when they go to a website is the site’s design and look. Because first impressions are so important, it is important to have good design and functionality.
This is even more important if you are a web designer using your site to increase your business as is the case of Mike from Stay At Home Dad, Geek Style and his use of his blog. The content of the blog is a lot about the day to day happening in his life such as having a puppy stay with them for a few days, going fishing, or the new camera he wants to get, but he also has a portion of the blog detailing his rates if you were to hire him to build a website for you or improve your existing site. He even offers a blog-sitting service!
While his prices seem a bit high in my opinion, I do not know what his competitors are charging and for a large scale corporation the amounts he is asking for will not affect the bottom line to the point of concern. The layout and functionality of Mike’s blog are both excellent and the blog is definitely worth a read.
Another cool thing about his blog is that you can enter the Stay At Home Dad Digital Camera Give-Away and have the opportunity to receive a brand new Canon PowerShot SD750. Along with the camera, Mike has also teamed up with SmugMug to offer some additional prizes.

I usually avoid contests with a review back as I feel it would dilute the content of my blog. However, I am not against short blurbs announcing the contest and linking back!
