It is no secret that I am a fan of using Linux based operating systems over those created by Microsoft (Windows) and I really do not have much opinion about Macs because I have not spent significant time using them.

For many people, they do not want to switch to Linux from Windows because they are afraid or otherwise resistant to change. This is understandable, because the look and feel of a Linux based operating system is different than a Windows machine. Although, most people will not have much problem getting used to the differences and soon be able to do anything they can on Windows on a Linux system.

To help ease this transition, I am going to feature some programs that were designed for and are mainly used on Linux (usually referred to as open source software) that have Windows installers available. This means that you can install these programs on your Windows computer and get used to them and learn to use them without having to switch operating systems. Then, when you finally decide to install Linux on your computer, it will shorten the learning curve and you will be more comfortable with it. One of the best parts about these programs is the price: THEY ARE FREE!!!

If you know of any programs that I should mention, let me know.
