I know it’s not the time of month when I normally do my housekeeping, but this is no regular housekeeping post. I just have a few tidbits I would like to get taken care of.
A Bit Of Recognition
You may notice a new 125×125 banner ad in rotation under my Supporters section in the far right sidebar. This banner belongs to Andrea and is a result of responding to my return after being away for a little over a month. She is fast becoming one of the biggest supporters of this site and I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank-you.
An Apology
The first guest post on this site was written by Damien Riley of Postcards From The Funny Farm. While it was a great post and I am honored to have been able to post it here, I must admit that I do owe Damien an apology. The reason for this is that I have actually had that post since the end of July and just hadn’t posted it yet. So, Damien, I apologize for not publishing your post in a more timely manner.
Ad Program Updates
Of the three new ad programs that I added last week, I have decided that there are only two of them that are worth my efforts at this time. While I can’t say that I’ve had amazing results and stellar success with them, I would not hesitate to stand behind anyone’s decision to sign up for Infolinks or to sign up for Market Leverage as sources of blog income. I haven’t found any negatives with either of these programs and think they have excellent potential for almost any blogger. I did, however, remove PerformancingAds. I know Derek reports success with them, but I wasn’t too happy with the way things were going.
If you are unaware of the situation that I encountered with them, you can read up on it here. As a continuation of that same story, I did finally receive an email from them about 14 hours after that post went live that basically said they would look into my situation with my exchange ads showing multiple times on the same page and my exchange ad credit balance. I responded within a half hour of receiving the email and have not heard from them again. Also, there continued to be an empty hole on my site where exchange ads should have been displaying. So, due to their ad code not working properly on my site and the lack of support I received, I have decided to not use their program at this time. I might go back to it in the future, and if you want to sign up and give them a try, perhaps you will have better luck than I did.
For now, I have put my “Supporters” section back to 4 ads shown at a time all sold through my advertise page. Depending on the future demand for slots in this section, I might expand this section to show 6 ads at a time.
Want to know a secret?
Even though the default bid for my 125×125 ad spots on my advertise page is $10.00, the form will let you put in a lower bid. While I cannot guarantee acceptance of lower bids, it doesn’t hurt to try and you might be amazed at how cheap advertising at this site can be! Also, although the maximum number of ads that will be in rotation in that section is 10, when they are not sold out there are not that many ads in rotation. When there are less ads, yours will be shown more often and you will get more value for your money!

Hi,
Nice Blog.
How are you rotating your banner ads
Thanks for stopping by, the banner ads are rotated through an external javascript that I created.
Sorry to hear that things didn’t work out for you with PerformancingAds. That is the key thing though, not everything will work for everyone but you don’t know it until you try.
On your other tidbits, I have to echo your sentiments that Andrea deserves the shout out and I am happy to see that she is a supporter of your blog.
As for Damien, what can I say - he is a top-notch guy and I am honored to have had the chance to make his acquaintance. He has written a few guest posts for my blogs and always comes through with great writing.
Thanks Nick for the shout out. I appreciate it!
I enjoy your blog. I must say what has kept me coming around….
It was Derek’s blog. Yep, its true! I was intrigued on who kept outposting me as top commentator! LOL True story!
(btw, when ya gonna go another Sunday Snapshot?)
Well, I guess that goes to show that commenting on other sites IS a way to build traffic and gain loyal readers and not just a way to build the community and fellowship with other bloggers.
Well, if I have a Sunday Snapshot, I post it on Sunday evening, I just haven’t been using the camera much lately so haven’t had any good snapshots to use.
Do you use the OIOPublisher plugin? It really eases the selling process, which takes your reliance from networks such as performancing ads.
No, I just manage my ads manually at this time.
