As an easier way for both myself and my readers to keep track at how I am progressing towards the goals I set for myself, I have implemented a new sidebar section called âStats and Goalsâ that shows my Alexa ranking and my Technorati authority as well as my Technorati ranking along with my current goal for each of these numbers.
I feel that it is good for a blog to have these numbers readily available for a number of reasons. The first reason is so that the writer can easily see where the numbers are currently at. Adding the goals to the stats section will also help the blogger maintain focus on the goal and remember what goals were set for what ranking.
Another reason to have these numbers readily available like this is so that potential advertisers can see the ranking and traffic numbers of the site to easily see what kind of reach their advertising would have if they were to advertise on that site.
Other readers may also be affected by these stats being available with the goals for each included. For one thing it may make readers feel more involved, but the biggest difference is that because the goals are listed right below the current figures, it is easy for readers to see how far I am from my goal and it gives them reason to check back often to see how much (if any) progress has been made towards those goals.
What are your thoughts on sites implementing stats like this? How about sites that are not blogs?

I like the display of your stats and goals. On my site, I provide a monthly update but don’t really have anything listed for regular review.
It looks like you are getting close to a few of those goals and I know that I’ll be keeping an eye on them to see when you reach each milestone!
I thought about just doing updates, but I kept having to reference back to the previous post to remember what all the goals were, etc and then I would pass a goal and not realize it. This way I see them everyday and will be able to keep track of it better.
A couple of days ago, I had actually surpassed my Technorati Rank goal. I noticed that my rank had jumped to somewhere around the 21,000 mark. When I came back later to set a new goal, it had reverted back to the 38,561 where it is at now.
