Wow, itâs been a wild last few days. Until today I hadnât even had time to check my email; much less write a post, in fact, the last time I checked my email before today was Wednesday afternoon. This post is just going to be some basic housekeeping and updates as to what the heck has been going on.
First of all, my sister got married this weekend and that took me away from thinking about or doing anything with this site or any of my email or anything of that sort. However, it was a fun weekend filled with celebration, friends, and family. Now, itâs time to do some housekeeping.
When I get back to the computer today, one of the first things I discovered is that I was the winner of John Chowâs Market Leverage bag of goodies! I am totally stoked about this and canât wait to receive it and tell in more detail what is all in there. I havenât decided for sure yet, but I might give some of the stuff away to promote this site. Itâs somewhat interesting: after reading about the giveaway, I immediately left a comment to get entered. I was also going to post about it to gain some additional entries, but just didnât get it done in time. I guess that goes to show, it doesnât matter how many entries you have, you only need one to win.
Also, Enkay dropped me an email over the weekend to let me know that my site was down for a period of time, Iâm not exactly sure when this was or how long it was down for, but fortunately itâs back now. Iâm thinking this might have been in-part due to my recent change of domain providers.
Which brings me to another recent change and update to this site; previously, I had registered my domain name through Network Solutions. While the service was excellent and everything worked very smoothly, the prices were outrageous. At the suggestion of Derek, I recently switched my domain registration over to 1&1 and am experiencing a very similar (although Iâm not quite as impressed) level of service and approximately 75% savings.
Many of you may recall that I recently asked the question âHow fast can you type?â and offered to put the names of the respondents into a pool and give one of them their choice of free advertising to run during the month of July. However, most of you either slacked-off and didnât do it or procrastinated too long to get entered. Since ă¸ă§ă¤ă˝ăł (Jason) and Martin were the only two that took part, Iâm going to give them both advertising space for July (see what you miss out on when you donât participate) so watch for their ads coming soon.
Finally, I have been giving some thought to adding a âRecent Postsâ section to the sidebar, but would like some feedback from the community on this. I know of many sites that have it and many that do not. If I were to install this, which of the gazillion similar plug-ins would you recommend? Where in the sidebars should I put it? Should I add it at all? If you could answer these questions for me in the comments I would really appreciate your input.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I am only about half-way through my RSS feeds and still have about 52 posts to read.

Congratulations on your sisters wedding! Im glad you won the Market Leverage bag of stuff. I am sure it will come handy!
Hey thanks, the wedding was great fun and I’m really excited for the bag of stuff…just have to decide if I’m going to keep it all or give something away…and if I give some of it away, what to give away :S
I won the Mino camera and I think its definitely a keeper. Its really small and does great video posts and its very simple to use.
Obviously, the $200 gift card would come handy to you also so, unless youre going to use the iPod, then that might be something you might want to give away.
But that also depends if its the Mini or the Touch because the Touch is pretty much an iPhone without the phone ofcourse.
Just depends, you can give it away or you can keep it all to yourself! Either way, your readers will not mind!
Yeah, we’ll have to see what happens
I’ve heard nothing but good about the Flips so I’ll probably keep that, and the extra money is always a blessing so that pretty much narrows it down to the iPod….
Wow. Nice win with the market leverage stuff! that is a good score! hope you enjoyed your time from the computer
It was actually quite enjoyable, most of the time I didn’t even think about it. Although, next time there is a celebration like that, I am going to be more rested beforehand and consume less alcohol during the event.
Congrats on the wedding and on winning the John Chow contest!
Thank You!
Hmm … have your parents started pushing you to get married and settle down like your sister, yet?
Congrats to your family for your sister’s marriage, and congrats to you for winning something from John Chow. I’m sure your web traffic has shot through the roof in the last day or two.
Well, no pushing from the parents yet, but I had many people tell me this weekend that my girlfriend is a keeper
I have noticed an influx of traffic, although not quite as large as I would have thought…at any rate, it’s a sweet prize, a nice boost, and just the idea of winning something from Chow is awesome!
