Thanks to a recent post from Derek, I was reminded that I needed to get a privacy policy up on this site in order to remain eligible for AdSense. I figure I should at least maintain eligibility for it even if I haven’t run AdSense for quite some time because it’s always good to keep your options open and I do still have an AdSense account with just under $2.00 in credit. As such, I now have a privacy policy for this site.

I also spent some time today making a few other changes to this site as well such as adding a couple of additional plugins and making some tweaks and changes to the theme and functionality of this site. I’ll post some more thoughts on that process tomorrow.

In the meantime, be sure to check out my privacy policy and make sure you have your own. If you run AdSense on your site, you need to have one in place by Sunday. Now, I’m not sure if this means the beginning or end of Sunday, but it’s better safe than sorry. Even if you don’t use AdSense on your site, you may want to consider having one.

For one thing, having a privacy policy in place will make it easier if you wish to add AdSense in the future. Also, I would not be surprised if other advertising programs started requiring that participating sites have privacy policies in place as well. A final thing that a privacy policy can do for your site is to add to it’s professionalism and give visitors (especially new ones) more confidence in the legitimacy of the site, even if they never actually read the policy.
