One of the buzz topics around the blogosphere this past week was an email sent by Text Link Ads informing users that the affiliate links are changing and that they will no be going through a tinyurl redirect.
The company has been under some criticism in regards to this issue. One of the biggest criticisms is that most people are less comfortable clicking on a link that points to tinyurl than one that shows a company name.
Another criticism that I have read is that they are forcing everyone to get their links changed within a week and that the only announcement of it was through the mass email they sent out. Many of my fellow bloggers received the email and thought it was some sort of scam due to the way the email was written and lack of information at the Text Link Ads homepage.
I would like to add to the criticism/complaint list. I never received an email alerting me to this change. If it were not for my regular reading of other blogs and the authors of a couple of those blogs posting about the situation I would not be aware of it.
Is there anyone else who did not receive the email alerting of the change to using tinyurl for the affiliate links?

I did get an email, but I still think that idea of theirs is stupid. I would prefer using the usual links in PHP files to enable a redirect. A tinyurl link, is fit only for temporary purposes
