Advertising a blog is like advertising a business, you can never have too much. The other way that they are similar is that in both cases, it often costs money to get your site mentioned and the name out there.

Yes, there are marketing campaigns that do not cost anything, such as trying to get a good position on Google and other search engines and using targeted keywords to help your site get found. Another thing to do is leave comments on other blogs to get your links to your site out there and perhaps get noticed by the blogger whose site you are commenting on. A third way would require you to be lucky enough to win a giveway item from another blog because bloggers tend to mention and promote the person who won.

Aside from that, if you want to advertise you are probably going to have to pay for it. This would include using Google AdWords or buying banner ads from a site. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get those banner ads for free? Well, now you can! A recent post over at SweetHacks Dot Com reveals that they are giving away advertising space for September.

Now I just need to create a banner ad to use to promote my site. If anyone is good at this type of thing let me know!
