I don't mind the rambling :) Thanks for clearing that up about iTunes. Previously, I have spoken with iPhone users and was told by one of them that directly downloading songs was not possible.

As for hacking the iPhone, I know it's possible, but it's something you're not supposed to do...with this phone, it's actually encouraged :)

If I ever have a question about an Apple or Mac product, I know who I'm going to be asking :)

I can understand all your reasons and here is my rebuttal (hehe):

picture messages- yes, the iphone cannot send MMS or picture messages from phone to phone. What it does is it sends pictures to an email address from the email account I have set up with on my iphone. so you would recieve a picture from {email address removed} to your email account instead of my phone number.

downloading music directly to the phone from iTunes- yes you can do this within the iPhone. There is a shortcut on the phone called iTunes. That is the iTunes store. And also when you sync the iPhone to your computer, it will also copy what you have purchased on your iPhone to your iTunes library. So you will have it on your iPhone and also on your computer. Also if you buy from iTunes on your computer, it will also sync onto the iPhone.

There are also "jailbreaking" (hacking)the iPhone. I have done it before and it was pretty damn cool. I got to really customize the phone and download Apps not approved by Apple.

Sorry for the rambling but I am pretty knowledgeable about Apple/macs and their products.

Once I get started, i cant stop!

Well, for the reasons listed in the post and in my response to Andrea, I would prefer this over the iPhone. However, I generally prefer a smaller flip-phone to a smartphone. I currently have a Motorola V9m that I really like.

I'm not a huge fan of the iPhone...they look and seem cool and all, but first off I'm not a fan of proprietary software like iTunes (maybe this is partially because I like to use Linux and they don't have a version of iTunes that runs on Linux) also, there are a number of things that I have heard the iPhone cannot do such as picture messaging and downloading music directly to the phone from iTunes.
