First post in a long, long time….hopefully it won’t be this long between posts again
Posted by Nick under Blogs and BloggingI am becoming more and more painfully aware of the fact that I have not been updating this site near as much as I should be. I know I really need to get back to a rhythm with this site and I am going to try and do that.
Not to make excuses for my lack of posting, but I would hope that many of you have wondered why I haven’t been posting and what I have been up to. First off, I want to assure anyone who currently has a link in my “Blogs I Read Section” that I have not missed a single post (gotta love the feed reader) and have enjoyed much of what I have read.
There are a couple of factors that I attribute my lack of posting to. Those factors include but are not limited to:
1. Laziness
2. Nothing to say
3. Working on other projects
In reference to the laziness, when I read Derek’s post “The Blogging Wall :: Hitting It Full Force” I felt like he was talking about me. I did start this site with the hope of making a little bit of extra cash each month and when that didn’t happen, I kept blogging anyway mainly because I find it enjoyable and I really like the blogging community (you guys are great) and the networking that takes place. The problem is that it began feeling more like a chore or a job that I got very little return from and thus I didn’t want to do it. While I would still like to make a little bit of money from this site, I have decided that making money is not one of this site’s primary objectives in my life. It is for posting, networking, and enjoyment.
Like Derek, I also enjoyed a nice break recently and “ended up doing a whole lot of nothing during my break … and enjoyed some time away from the computer” in that I did not spend near as much time on the computer as I normally do. While I didn’t watch any Steven Seagal movies, there have been several times when I have considered writing a post and ended up watching TV or playing video games instead. However, many times this was due to my second factor: having nothing to say.
While I have used a variety of filler posts in the past and do find them to be a good way to break the monotony and add some entertainment, if I had tried to use them recently, I would have ended up with way too many filler posts and almost no true content. During this time I have been remembering several posts that I have read on various blogs in the past that make the point that if you don’t have something relevant to say/add, that you are better off not posting.
Hopefully I will be able to get the post ideas flowing again and get my stats back (I notice that my Alexa ranking has dropped considerably) to where they were before and better. I have a couple of ideas I’ve been kicking around in my head and just haven’t typed up yet, but the few ideas I have won’t last terribly long so I guess we’ll see what happens.
Along the topic of kicking ideas around in my head, I have several other ideas I’ve been kicking around the inside of my cranium as well and taken some steps to put in motion. I don’t want to say too much about them right now but hopefully I’ll be unveiling some new things here in the not too distant future.
In the meantime, let’s see if we can’t get this site back to the stats that it had before. Let your friends, relatives, and dog know that I have begun posting again and I’ll do my best to try and get back on a regular posting schedule. Be sure to check back often and leave some comments!

Nick, glad to see you back posting and it is somewhat comforting to know that I am not the only one that has recently experienced the wall.
Actually, I think it’s more than just the two of us. It seems there has been a posting slow down in the blogosphere in general as of late. There are several sites I know of that used to update daily or sometimes multiple times daily that recently have only had a couple of posts per week.
we all have hit the wall once in our blogging life, it starts with missing a day, then it become two and so on.
Just got put our head down and write that first post
