It was a sad day when Bob Barker announced that he was retiring. We all knew it was coming, but nobody wanted it to happen. On October 31, 2006, it did happen: Bob Barker announced his retirement. The final original episode aired on June 15, 2007 and the announcement has recently been made official as to who the replacement will be.

It has been determined that Drew Carey will be the replacement for Bob Barker on “The Price is Right” and that the longest running game show ever will continue on. The question remains as to whether or not it will be as popular as it has always been.

Many of the people who watch “The Price is Right” do so to watch Bob Barker as much as to watch the games and Drew Carey may not be able to connect as well with the people who have been watching the show for 20+ years as well as Bob Barker does.

It will be interesting to see how the show changes with this change of host. At this time I cannot find any information as to when the first airing of a Drew Carey hosted “The Price is Right” is scheduled for. If you find this information, please post it as a comment.
