Well, BlogRush has been around for a few days now and it’s been long enough for me to have formed a bit of an opinion about the program. You may recall that I was fairly skeptical of BlogRush when I joined, but decided to give it a couple of weeks to see if it would benefit me at all. The thing is, I’m not sure I am willing to leave it on their for the entire two weeks.
Here’s what I see from BlogRush so far. A couple of days ago, John Chow gave instructions on how to control which blog headlines show up in the widget on other people’s sites. This seems like it might be a good idea, but I don’t have a post talking about making almost $18,000 in one month to use as a attention grabber and so have not followed that advice at this time.
Another observation is that the only way to really benefit from BlogRush is to get as many impressions as possible. This translates to the bloggers with the most traffic, the ones that don’t need the help, are the ones that benefit the most from the program. These bloggers earn more credits from having a greater number of page views, but also have larger referral networks to earn credits from.
So far, the widget hasn’t cost me any viewers (unless they just didn’t come back because I have it on my site) and has gained me 1. Looking at these numbers, it would appear that I am benefiting from the widget, but all this is from around 200 impressions. This does not appear to be a very worthwhile way to build traffic. Now, if I had some referrals signed up under me, then the program might be worthwhile because I would get more impressions and (hopefully) more traffic.
As things look right now, I’m not 100% sure I’ll actually participate in BlogRush for the two weeks I had originally intended to try it out for. Another thing I have noticed about BlogRush is that they certainly are not afraid to send out email. While 1 email from them each day can hardly be considered spam and may be attributed to the fact that they are new and going through a lot of changes, it seems a bit excessive in some regards.
I would be interested in knowing what results some other people are having with BlogRush to see if my results are typical. Also, if you want to sign up and see if you can have better results on your site, don’t let me deter you from doing so.
