I previously had plans to participate in the “Amazing Visions Writing Contest” at Postcards From The Funny Farm, but managed to procrastinate until just after the deadline. Luckily for me, the deadline has been extended and I can still write this post and get an entry into the contest.

Before I get to my actual entry, I would like to say that I really like the way that this contest is being run in that it is actually a contest. So many of the promotions that bloggers run are called contests, but the winners are chosen randomly. With this particular promotion, the winners will be the entries that the host likes the best, so we really are competing. As for some background on this contest, as the title suggests, the entry method is to blog about someone who had an amazing vision that you admire.

For my entry, I am going to bring up someone that I have talked about before on this site. Back in September, I wrote a post about Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture and even embedded the video of it into that post. If you haven’t watched it yet, I highly suggest you do so.

The reason I chose him to be the subject of my entry into this contest is not because he is a very good and inspiring speaker (which he is) or because I paid more attention to that “lecture” than any actual lecture I have ever attended in person or even because I was inspired enough to take notes while watching it knowing full well that I had no reason to worry about taking notes. The reason I chose him is because of the visions he shared during that lecture.

These visions that he has are shared with the viewer as tips on how to live your life. He also shares many snippets of wisdom that can benefit us all. In fact, I think that if everyone were to remember all the things he says in that video (and/or take notes) and follow those ideas in daily life, the world would be a much better place for each of us. Through his vision, we would all be happier and would all be able to achieve our dreams.
