I recently came across a contest idea on a blog and I’m not even sure how I found it. It seems like it would be a good way to get a bunch of comments to a post, but a costly way to do that. The winner of this “What would you do with $200” contest is going to get either $100 or $200 depending on how they enter in to the contest. This post counts as an entry that would qualify for the $200 prize where just simply commenting would be an entry for the $100 prize.
The reason I know I’m not going to win this one is because in order to win, you have to be the one who makes the 100th response (comment or pingback) to the contest announcement. With a contest like this, the first 80-90 comments are going to be slow to come (just 40 comments in 4 days), the final few (and some past the 100 mark) are going to all come in at almost the same time because there will be people watching the comment count and playing the timing game to try and be number 100.
Even though I am not going to win this contest, the trackback will serve as an additional link to my site. Does that answer your question as to why I am entering when I know I’m not going to win?
So, to make this entry official, I need to answer the question: If I won the $200 I would probably leave it in my PayPal account for the time being and use it on a future eBay purchase…yeah, boring, I know.

I have to admit that I regret already that winner will be chose in such an unfair fashion. I do however see changing the rules “in the middle of the game” as you mentioned there where only 40 responses in 4 days. This will only slow down after the post moves from the front page of my blog. I will give it another 4 days or so before I decide. You may be just that lucky winner!
Hi Nick,
Just wanted to stop by and let you know that I have changed the rules for the contest. It was dragging forever. With new rules the contest will end on September 1st and the winner will be determined by a drawing.
You will have a chance to win after all.
