Due to the not so overwhelming response to my giveaway I was trying to think of a way to get more people to leave comments and then fill out the entry form. I can only encourage it so many times and still save posts to provide (or at least attempt to provide) quality content.

While thinking about this, I was reminded that there are several blogs out there that are dedicated to promoting these types of activities and decided to submit the promotion to a few of them and see if that makes any difference and/or lands me any new regular readers.

On Monday evening, I submitted my promotion to three separate sites that follow this format and would like to report on the results thus far.

My giveaway was listed at My Blog Contest on Tuesday. I was happy with this publicity, but did not receive any clicks that I know of from them. While this is not the result I was hoping for, I can’t blame the site. They took the time to look through my post and borrow my images to include in their posting. You can show your readers a link, but you can’t make them click it.

Also on Tuesday, I received an email from Contest Blogger stating that my submission had been received and that it would probably be posted this week. It was just posted on that site as I was preparing this post. Seriously, I checked just before starting the post and it was not there, and I just checked again and it had been posted.

As a side note, he mentions that he thinks 10 comments is a lot to require, but for a prize with a potential $50 value, I don’t think it’s too out of line. Besides, you have over 160 posts to choose from that you can leave comments on. Sorry, I just wanted to stand up for myself a little bit there, that is not meant as an attack on the author of that site.

The other place I submitted my giveaway to was The Prize Blog and immediately after submitting it, I received an auto-reply message saying thank you and that I would be gotten back to as soon as possible. Since then, I have not heard or seen anything in reference to my promotion. I did notice, however, that a promotion that I know just started this evening is already posted.

There you have it, some thoughts to keep in mind when you are advertising your next promotion. I’m trying to stay fairly neutral in regards to opinions of any of these particular sites and those are the results I have obtained so far.
